I’m Kassie Keller, a 31-year-old vegan marathoner in North Dakota.
I began running 10 years ago during senior year of college. I was the typical out-of-shape student trying to be healthier. On a whim, I decided to run. It was hard and I had no idea what I was doing, but I stuck with it, and running slowly transformed into a passion.
In 2012, I researched food sourcing, nutrition, and its effect on the body and performance. After learning how our modern-day food is acquired, I began a 30-day vegan experiment. Five years later I haven’t turned back and I’ve never felt better. It was one of the best decisions of my life. The more time goes on, the more passionate about animal rights I become.
Professionally, I work in communications and marketing, which I love. My boyfriend and I have two black Labs who keep us busy. On weekends, I’m usually found running, experimenting with a new vegan dish, or relaxing at home with my family and a glass of wine.
